Hi. My name is Adam. I write songs.
My musical career has been multifaceted. I've been in bands since I was fourteen or so (I'm 22 now), spanning multiple genres. Guitar was my first instrument, followed by bass. A year or so after learning guitar, I wanted nothing more than to form a band. Problem was, there were no drummers in my area. So showing that all-American spunk, I said "Fuck it" and got a drum set. I started a punk band that lasted for two years and nobody ever wanted to come see, played guitar in a progressive rock/metal act that worked too hard on their songs and played like 3 shows in 2+ years, dyed my hair purple and cut it into a mohawk and played bass for a grindcore band that played one show before the singer smoked a bunch of crack and beat his woman and went to jail, then resigned myself to my fate as a drummer and picked up the sticks for another, much more successful punk/ska outfit called 40$ Boner. We enjoyed a great four years of shows, including a gig in New York City and one at a music festival in Connecticut, cut two full lengths and an EP, and had a fantastic time.
Through all that time, I continued to play guitar (mostly) regularly. At the tender age of 15, I recorded a 10 track solo album titled Spare Time and Spare Change, followed 6 months later with an 11 track record called The Healing Process. 3 months after that came a 6 track acoustic EP, cleverly titled Adam Goes Acoustic. My next solo recording would come over a year later, when I really liked this girl and wanted to impress her, so I shit out some songs and titled the resulting disc The View From the Gallows. After that, I just kinda stopped writing music of my own for about three years. I still played for awhile, but finally I sold off all of my guitars and gave up.
Finally, I got back into songwriting after I became fed up with playing punk rock beats. I went with a friend to the local music shop, just along for the ride, and I happened to see a no-name beater guitar for $60. This was the genesis for Frozen Idols. Purchasing that red junker guitar led me to write and record two albums by myself in 6 months, Siamese Souls and Air Meets Water. From the material on these two albums, I put together a real band with some very talented people. Together, we recorded another disc 3 months ago, a combination of new songs and old material pulled from Siamese Souls and Air Meets Water, this one titled Such Promising Things. It was 13 tracks of pure home-brewed awesome.
Unfortunately, less than two weeks after recording Such Promising Things, I moved 400 miles away from my band mates. So, what essentially started as a solo project has become a solo project once more. Mind you, I continue to write music, and I will continue to put the Frozen Idols label on it. Currently, I am working on an album with the working title of "Where Will We Call Home Next?" and so far, it's got 8 tracks, which are:
Infidelity
Menthol Memories
Another Bottle
When It Rains
In Your Car(Tuesday Night Rainstorm)
Artificial Euphoria
Baby Blue
Burning Leaves
So that pretty much brings you up to speed with where I am at this stage of my creativity. I would worry about the fact that this post has no proper end, but then I remember that its subject matter has no end, at least not until I die or have a horrible accident with a combine. So, til next time folks!
